The acid test
I was in a collision today and the driver and passengers of the offending vehicle abandoned their car and had it on their toes. When the police arrived they suggested they’d been looking for the car and it’s occupants earlier in the day.
Hopefully I’ll be in a position in a few weeks time to report how well Adrain Flux processed my claim.

What's actually broken on the axle? Is it the "Puma weakness"?

Hi Blackwolf, the bolts all sheared on the flange at the end of the axle.

Extraordinary!

I find it amazing too that the vehicle took an impact of that magnitude with (apparently) no panel damage, in that respect you were lucky since panel damage is more labour-intensive to repair.

My condolences, I hope you get it sorted soon.

Similar thing happened to my other half when the 300Tdi Disco got hit by a speeding fiesta with bald tyres grigg round a wet bend too fast... Clipped the front edge of the wheel arch & hit the tyre, sheared the stub axle bolts off but the impact was so fast that the wheel was pushed backwards & re shaped the bulkhead & pushed the drivers door back too. Car was a write off!

How's the claim going? Err, not very well thus far. Apparently they're now waiting for a second estimate because the first estimate didn't account for the chassis damage! Yup!

It's a bit of an eye opener how many organisations have their noses in the trough in this insurance business. I pay my premuim to Adrian Flux. They sub the insurance to Trinity Lane. Trinity Lane get Hadliegh Claims Management to do their donkey work, who in turn get S&G Response to do theirs. I've tracked the vehicle down to a back street garage in Herne Bay Kent where it seems a local operative was the one with a clipboard and calculator.

I'm getting bad vibes about the whole thing.

I read the terms of my insurance very Closely and i can nominate my own repairer (so long as it gets inspected and approved bu my own insurances (subbed out) damage assessors) which i did recently. I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/

I’m with Oslo Blue. I insist on choosing the repairer. Hence why LV lost long term insurance for 3 cars last year when they introduced an additional £200 excess if you didn’t use their bank of repairers.

the funny thing is, if it went to a standard repairer it would have been a write off as they wouldn't have known where to get the best prices, or the amount of time required to fit them...

Ouch! Good luck with the claim... check with Flux if you'd rather use your own repairer as it is something we offer at A-Plan on our specialist policies - generally if you use your own repairer it means you can't be guaranteed a courtesy car as the insurers don't have that agreement already set up with the garage so it doesn't necessarily suit everyone.

Eye watering. Apparently it’s a replacement chassis job, with a £19k cost. That’s sure to stuff my premiums for a year or two.
