Defenders don't depreciate like other cars, they go purely on milage in my experience, so 200k is getting pretty long in the tooth. That said I'm sure if you sell it privately you'll get much more as they would probably just chuck yours in auction. Take a look at this one for example 1994 213500 miles for £6k http://www.berkshirelandrover.com/landrove...ge_id=5018 |

No Puma is worth £4,000 yet, even a writeoff. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Have you left a digit out there somewhere? Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

No honest that is what they have offererd against a new 61 plate 90 exact replacement, but i have got to admit i would not sell it to any one here who loves Land Rovers it is ed. 180thou now and it will be 200 thou or very near when we change it 1st Nov. It has towed 75% of its life the slack in the transmission is horrific, handaling very poor needs rebushing and new springs and shocks knocking engine now, body and chassis is very good no damage at all except rear step falling off but its had a very hard life. Of course i wont accept the offer at the moment but this is still round 1 as they say.
Still looking at at replacing it with a Disco 4 ??? Not sure it is man enough in the day to day long run !!! If everything is under control you are not going fast enough. i think the D4 will hack it. you obviously drive it with some mechanical sympathy, the larger engine, kerb weight and auto will help no ends |

I do try to drive it smoothly i am still on original clutch which after reading many posts on here is somewhat amazing but some days (Friday nights M5 going home) it does get thrashed all the way home on the limmiter, and sometimes i wonder how i have not blown a shaft towing trucks out of building sites. I go through brakes a lot pads every 24Thou Discs every 48Thou but its permanently heavy never unloaded, its been the best i've had, way better than the TD5 If everything is under control you are not going fast enough. For £4k I'd take it. Would only put a V8 and gearbox in it anyway. Anything you can do, I can do slower and less efficiently. |
