With all the MOT fail work completed I took my 90 for a retest today, and it passed! Very Happy

I've enjoyed working on the 90, and now with the essential MOT work done, time to fit some accessories.
Next on the list of things to do is fit an electric winch, rear bench seating and knock the dents out of the LHS outer wing.

Oh, and clean, paint and wax inject the chassis.

Today I fitted a fume curtain to the soft top. Should keep the cabin area warmer.

Malta 2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 CSW Santorini Black
Came across this thread, and loved every picture posted. As much as I liked the newer Defenders, I am now finding the older ones more charming and full of character. My motivation for my restoration.... although thinking about it, I lost the patina that it built over 32 years. But I am sure in 32 years time mine will look lovely again 😂 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Great idea to fit a fume curtain. I've always had one in my soft top Ninety and it makes it much warmer in winter - you'll seldom need to roll the rear curtain down.

Yours fits better due to the second roll-bar being set back from the seats. (Fitting it to the standard hoodstick is a pain, as the seatbacks stick right back into it).

I'd be interested to know how you are liking (or not liking) driving Land Rover's first turbodiesel engine?

Is it as bad as some people say?

I find the 19J brisk. It's ok in normal traffic conditions, and will just about get to an indicated 70 mph.
I say indicated because it's now on 7.50 tyres and it may not have the correct speedo drive in the gearbox.
But will happily do 55-60mph which suits my kind of driving.

Interestingly I occasionally drive a 300tdi 110 at work, and the 19j at lower speeds seems as brisk as the tdi. That could mean the tdi is not in good tune of course.

It's not my main car so I can live with the pace of the DT.
