It takes a little time to unload...but better than having to make multiple trips: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Worse bit is having to handball it up 8ft stairs to drop into the high sided skips. |

Well today I finished fitting some cheap strobes (let’s see how long they last) as Buggsy is occasionally being used as a HGV/plant on site repair/recovery truck:
Not the best pics as I quickly nabbed these on the way back from work, will take some better ones tomorrow: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge After being in and out the back a lot for the last few days and again today all was good, then I go to put my tools back in and..... well the rear door is locked? Odd I didn’t lock it, tries the key and nope all still locked, try pushing/pulling/lifting the door.... nope still firmly shut so I have either somehow unknowingly invented a superdooper high security door or it’s I’m just going to take the second one as I’ve spent 3 days working on the disco and she’s probably jealous oh well have to keep busy on my mornings off. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Well Friday really, took it in for the MoT and we were doing well with a reading of .02 on the smoke test with the pass being .05 or less so quite pleased as the cat seems to have scarpered from its resting place. I had taken a bit of time and had adjusted the headlamp aim myself the night before as it was slightly off for the past couple of years. Up on the ramp and the man was happy and then came the brake test, first wheel being tested and bang, front flexi on the drivers side gave way so a fail.
Pulled it out of the MoT bay into a spare slot in the garage so I did a couple of phonecalls to the local factors and luck had it that one had it on the shelf, they dropped it round for me in the time I had just about got the old one off, fitted it myself, borrowed one of the mechanics to give us a hand to bleed the brakes and we were ready to put it back on the brake testing machine within the hour, test done and piece of paper printed so a result. The flexi pipe had actually detached itself from the ferrule that is bonded into the rubber pipe, first time I had seen that happen, same for the garage! Still was a damned sight more civilised doing a job like that in a garage than on the side of the road, that would have been a getting a motor factor to deliver to the third gateway on the right coming from such and such village to the middle of nowhere. |

Took on the job of replacing the heater matrix in the 110. A bit of a pig of a job, started at 11:30 done by 15:45.
Had to drill out the screw heads for the chequer plate which slowed things down a bit and the time it took to wrestle the heater box off the bulkhead! A quick test drive and I have warm air at around 4 miles... So lets see how that goes on the drive to work. A motorway trip will be the test. Also noticed the coolant expansion tank cap appears to be leaking as well, so ordered a replacement. 20 years of heater matrix Most of the crap on the bin is from the heater box including what looks like a bit of bin bag Click image to enlarge After removing the matrix, I poured some fresh water into the matrix and then emptied it out. Click image to enlarge Just a bit of crap Click image to enlarge The pipes snapped off with worrying ease and some rust Click image to enlarge 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Took my 90 for a 450 mile round trip to pick up a Penman trailer and an iKamper. Doesn’t sound like too much to ask of it but I’ve been using my 110 at the expense of the 90 and it’s been neglected, it hadn’t moved for 6 months. I got back from Cornwall at 4.30pm yesterday, unpacked and then made a start on the 90. The battery was dead so I swapped it for a good one, checked all fluids, lights and safety related items then gave it a spin round the block and kept my fingers crossed. I needn’t have worried, it performed faultlessly there and back and I’m very pleased with my new purchases.
