The inlet tract is coated with oil in normal use and this is forced out of a blown gasket under the charge pressure.

Is it enough to be an obvious leak, enough to drip down onto the exhaust etc...? 300tdi 90 1996. |

Very much so, the 300 tdi manifold gasket is a very well known weak point, as is the "P" gasket.
The oil leak at the back end of the engine, if not from the clutch housing, could well be the "T" seals on the rear main bearing cap. Another very well known weak point, they can be changed without removing the engine. The intercooler should be flushed every 50,000 miles to clean out all the oil which gets in there. It is in the Land Rover service schedule. It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten |

Gasket ordered and I have watched a few YouTube tutorials on how to replace it. Look reasonably straightforward. Roy 300tdi 90 1996. |
