Alternator wiring
Hi I’ve today replaced my alternator on my series 2 as the bearings had gone on it, but I can’t get the charge light to go out there are just 2 wires one from the starter solenoid and one from the warning/charge light however they are 2 different alternators and am unsure which to put the charge light too I’ve tried W and it stays on but after looking at the old one it was connected like this

And this is the new one the solenoid I’ve connected to +

Any advice please Thumbs Up cheers Paul

Hi dorsetsmith thank you Thumbs Up , I have connected the new one with the solenoid cable to this terminal as it already had a ring connector on it can I still leave it on there and just put the charge light on to the small spade connector or should I replace the ring connector with a large spade connector and plug them both in to that same block cheers Paul

as martin main power lead (starter sol Battery + ) can go to the large spades or the B+ terminal and your charge lamp - IND to D+ or small spade

w terminal is tacho output i.e. RPM gauge
