This post might be of interest to people looking at air flow via RAIs and use of a Nugget kit.

Thank you all for your input . I wasn’t wanting to fettle too much , in fact I was hoping there’d be none at all !
I’m going to get in touch with Nugget and see what they recommend, I believe he’s on the forum .
The Mantec / Land Rover plastic jobby looks a little more restricted in design than the Nakatenga or G4 but if that’s the only way to go then so be it !

Bluericky, Give Wayne at Nugget my regards. His kit is in use https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic61830.html 110 Defender 300tdi & Penman trailer with ally exped top and roof tent

Sorry to hijack - is this the snorkel you are referring too, or a different model?

What 'kit' would be needed to enable wading?

Thanks

Mark

I suspect the 'kit' that they refer to is extended axle and gearbox breathers but the snorkel that I meant is the SN4:

I take it there's no difference between one for a 90 or a 110?
I'm still looking for one but at a sensible price

No, they're all the same to the front doors. Darren

Looking at some on ebay there's some around the fifty quid mark, are they any good? I'm not intending doing anything to deep but would like something watertight. I take it I would need a different air filter and box, any suggestions on this.
I've got the breather kit from Fourby 4x4 for axles gearbox and timing case all as a kit.

I got my mushroom style from the army surplus place that does loads of different stuff. I think its Blanchards?!?!? £60 and seems good quality. I do need to swap the screws for SS though as the supplied ones are starting to rust. Dead easy to fit too btw.

The metal £50-£60 ones are ok for the money, although the coating often isn't up to much, especially inside the main tube. Out of the box, I'd call them water resistant. To make them fully sealed requires a bit of work, especially where they bolt onto the wing. Beyond that though, a fully sealed system requires work to the existing pipework and air filter box.

As an aside, I wouldn't fit one to a Puma though as they're far too restrictive. Darren

Hi all,
So looking through all the emails and info, it turns out it's better not fitting a RAI due to reduced air to the filter. Also a great difference on costs from one RAI to another. £60 upwards and mid price from Raptor £120 some metal some plastic. After fitting the breathers, then what's best?
