Will do Steve A certain fine gentleman has publised some details on how to fit it (granted the VDO variant but principle must be same) http://www.web-rover.co.uk/nav.php?p=td5kb/vdotacho I'll deffo have a go but worse case my local indy guy can sort it out for me if I feck it up or bottle it (I've already checked with him.... such is the confidence I have in my vehicle electrical skills) The Alive guys may have more stock and don't forget the forum discount. @ SteveB - Bloody hell, that ebay listing is expensive - at least Dick Turpin wore a mask!
Most of my investigations on part websites etc suggested around £125+VAT and postage, so £150-160'ish all in is probably about right. I was able to get forum discount and a bit of repeat customer discount from the Alive guys too but this could just be that they had an odd one spare kicking around the workshop. Worth asking them if they've got more though @Ben_j85jty..... [sickasaparrot] That's a cracking price! [/sickasaparrot] @BPman.... A good thought and in the recent past I did think about a nanocom for diagnostics etc and the meter features you describe would have been a bonus. In the end I didn't take the plunge as for somebody like me, ignorance on fault codes is bliss (less to be paranoid about) and I'd be too tempted to 'fiddle' with all the settings and probably shag up the motor completely..... A little knowledge is more dangerous than no knowledge in my case. Ideally, I'd have bought a scangauge, which would have done the RPM and also give me a code reader/clearer too, without the ability to change any of the ECU settings. I think they look better on a more permanent fixing basis than a Nanocom. Scangauages don't seem to like Td5's unfortunately.... Above all that though, I like seeing a rev counter needle Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. Last edited by party monkey on 15th Jul 2011 8:06am. Edited 1 time in total |

Hi,
Good idea bpman, I do actually have a nanocom evo. This is the reason I feel the need for a rev counter as the nanocom speed reading is a lot lower than my ear says If I thrash her to what I believe is 4000 or max revs the nanocom is only reading 3000 ish. Very odd. I do believe I have a problem. MAF or fuel pressure? Very and I mean very occasionaly she goes really well... Party Monkey, I have a Nanocom. Should you ever need to use one Buckinghamshire isn't too far from Warwickshire Steve |

I don't know what tyres you're on, but as a reference on mine 3000 rpm with 265/75 R16 tyres is spot on 70mph (with a standard Defender Td5 transfer box). 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Yep, that was my best non-forum online price option too, but of course it would have been plus the VAT for me . Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |
