2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Stornoway Grey
New Camping and Off roading event - 27 - 29 Mar 20
Many on here know us and have also joined us at our off road training centre either for training of one of our social mornings.

For the last social morning several of us camped the night before which prompted a few enquiries the next day.

I was wondering what people would think of/be interested in with the option of a camping/off roading weekend at the Site (Which is David Bowyers Off Road Site in central Devon)

The site is quite compact but has managed tracks to show vehicle capability like pretty much any other training site. The training water sections are maintained at 500mm max for example.

Was thinking more of an open site from a driving perspective, with given hours to drive , ie Fri 12 to 1700, Sat 0900 to 1700 etc. We would manage the routes with one way and by having a 'prebook' the weekend only. So its not a pay and play scenario with different people coming and going and driving where they want at any time. It would be run as a private event for those that have prebooked only. Day or Weekend booking possibly. On site recovery provided.

It would be aimed as a part social/meet/show of your camping kit/truck weekend.

There is a pub a mile away which would offer options for B&B, bfasts and dinner if camping wasnt your thing or to help with the other issue of 'wild camping that no one likes to talk about post'. Or if camping is your think but you wanted to get out for a pub meal. The pub does prebooked meals too so you could preorder.

Was thinking in the spring and also offering it on here first as its aimed at the standard vehicle, any tyres will get you around 30-40% of the course. Got MTs and want to try them out, or a locker there are places to entertain there too. Plus winch areas for those wishing to explore vehicle winching capabilities.

Would be looking around £60 a vehicle for the day - £80 with camping pass a 24hr period, or camp and drive Fri lunch to Sunday lunch for £135 ish. price tbc.

Would be looking at 12 - 15 vehicles i would of thought so not a massive gathering more so a get to know everyone event. Family, dogs no problem.

What do people think? Cheers

Personalty, think this is a brilliant opportunity to have a great social few days with a bit of simple offroading for any std 4x4 vehicle thrown in, doing as much or as little as you would like at a well proven training site, with a bit of everything there to try

I used a 500 mile old D3 a few years back, great afternoon Very Happy nice clean mud that all washed off

so the vast majority of D2 owners here will be fine (unless most are now tarmac warriors !!)

So subject to the dates, 100% count me in Smile California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Some hefty changes in life at the moment, but if the date works out for me and I’m fit enough it would be fun seeing you all again.
Thoroughly enjoyed the weekends we had at Marks place!

If it were in the Easter holidays then I'd be keen. Bring the family down for a few days and mix this in with some other stuff. Darren
