Swivel Ball question.

OK its a stupid question but here goes...

A mechanic friend is overhauling my front swivels and the britpart Teflon replacement balls, upper bearing housing does not accept the replacement pins/bearing we have. (they are genuine LR ones)

It also doesn't have a retaining bevel inside to prevent a bearing from dropping through.

Is the Britpart upper bearing unit different to the genuine land rover one?

Have I purchased a dodgy ball with unfinished upper bearing housing.....or the wrong flaming ball unit...

As I understand it,

DA3179 - questionable quality
DA3179G - genuine OEM

Just been looking at them myself.

About £35 price difference.

Rich

Just noticed - dont think I answered your question but you get the point..........

Thanks Rich,

Just checking with the supplier in case they have sent me an earlier pair of balls - with the top bearing mount being smooth and will not stop the bearing slipping inwards - its also about 5mm smaller than the lower one.
