One thing for sure - LR is going to be competing with some hugely successl cars like the Tiguan and the X1 in this market they will need to up the anti on their quality control and lower their prices a lot........... they are not competing with Aston Martin/ Bentley et all down at this level Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I suppose the Defender X version is already the Posh Spice of the Defender Range! And the SVR might be the Scary Spice! Autocars images aren’t great but a small boxy vehicle is what LR needs. Just look at the Renegade, it’s done well for Jeep.

Not forgetting the ‘Baby’ Broncho when it comes out along side the full sized Broncho.

JLR did say originally that they were looking to produce a family of Defenders so we should not be surprised.

RIP Land Rover. Remember it how it was and enjoy what you have.

Or buy a Suzuki Jimny if you want a new vehicle, as that is the nearest thing out there now.

Reading the blurb, it seems JLR have a problem finding a name for this model ........... Autocar suggests the Defender 80 after the wheelbase of Series vehicles..........
I must admit that I prefer the “shrunk in the wash” version here to the new “90”, which I was more interested in than the 110. I could even afford this model with a nice selection of optional extras if that really is the price point it will hit the streets at. I don’t need more than 2 seats with occasional use rear seats and if they are uncomfortable then folks don’t ask you for a lift too often....... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I'm guessing this is that article published online for the 1st time:

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-car...o-defender

Hadn't picked up that it's going to use a new platform:

"The biggest part of the price calculation will be the type of platform underpinning the L860. It’s expected to use a new platform that Land Rover calls the D10 and parent firm Tata dubs the Omega-Arc (for Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture)."

For D10, read a cost optimised version of the D8 platform that underpinned the old Range Rover Evoque, seven-seat Land Rover Discovery Sport and Jaguar E-Pace SUVs.

This is what Tata build on a D10:
