![]() Put the powder in using the nozzle usually attached then insert the key a few times to make sure it gets Into the lock thoroughly. Don’t use oil or liquid in any of your locks. Don’t Follow me you might not make it! |

Do you have a large bunch of keys on the same keyring?

Hi all,
No it was just the immobiliser fob and the filler cap key. The garage has replaced it, so now on my 3rd, lets see how long this one lasts. Thanks for the tips, I did try graphite power etc when my first on failed (obviously didn't make any difference), so didn't waste any time when the 2nd one started to pack up. I was just wandering if anyone else with late model Defenders was having similar problems, but I guess its just bad luck as its certainly not being abused. Cheers all |

I had my 2015 done under warranty at 3yrs old and 35k miles. Replacement hanging in there...
Also only have the key and fob on the key ring... all other keys separate. Mike |

Hey Mike,
Its quite ridiculous that is necessary to consider how many keys you have on your key ring isn't it, (unless your a prison warden). The internals must be made of chocolate...Its little things like this that threaten to ruin my extended Honeymoon period :@) |

Yep.
I love my 90, love the character it has, great towing and offroad but it am under no illusions it's a piece of crap at the same time! They had to deliberately engineer it to be this bad... it cant be down to chance. Haha. Being an aussie I am used to 80 series landcruisers and GU patrols. Just unbreakable.... but bloody hell they are boring. That said I'll take boring when you are 500miles from tarmac.... |

I’m not sure exactly what your symptoms are but if it’s simply failing to start on the turn of the key then it’s probably not the barrel but the ignition switch that is a hopeless plastic lump attached to the end. It’s not particularly expensive and certainly a lot cheaper than replacing barrel , lock and keys .
I replaced mine after it failed to start several times , turning the key also felt notchy . https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

Evening All,
Do you centre the steering wheel before removing the ignition key? I noticed my ignition key sticks and is a pain to get out once the power steering fluid pressure dissipates. Found the keeping the steering wheel dead centre off loads the key. Mark |
