At a loss as to why Fabsil hasn't worked, I have been using it for years (decades even) and it is without doubt a product that really works. Is the fabric split at any point?
My previous tilt had been punctured by the claws of my neighbours cat (it finds the roof a very comfy location for a doze) but an application of Fabsil caused the water to bead so that it couldn't penetrate the holes, was still working well when I sold it on 12-months later. ONE LIFE, GET IT! |

My canvas soft top has seen better days. I sprayed the inside with contact adhesive and used Thompson's Water Seal on the outside. Any holes ( our cat is partial to using the soft top as a hammock ) I put Gorilla Tape over these.

I've always had good results with Fabsil on canvas roofs but Nikwax may be a good alternative?
How are you applying the Fabsil? I normally brush it on fairly heavy, using enough that the whole canvas looks sodden wet and paying extra attention/working it on to any stitching. 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop 1989 300Tdi 90 Soft top 1992 200Tdi 90 Truck cab with Land Cruiser axles |

I’ve rolled and brushed it on. Putting plenty on and double coated the seams every time I’ve done it. Thinking of trying nikwax or home brew beeswax next

I have a stayfast tilt and not needed to proof in last 4 years but have had great results from other fabsil on canvas rugs and lately nickwax on ripstop lighter weight materials, foxwing etc. Which they sell as a UV protector but waterproofs too. Cheers

I use Ultramar. Works perfectly.
Anyways, have you tensioned up the canvas while it was still wet? In that case it wouldn’t surprise me if it keeps leaking. http://www.contender.co.uk/Portals/0/Templ...0Price.pdf |

Was put on in the dry and tightened and I’ve kept it taught since when it’s been a dry day and the roof has been dry for a couple of days. Needless to say it’s been damp or soaking wet for the last month
![]() I’ll have a look into the other suggestions cheers |

I saturate mine with Fabsil once every 2 to 3 years - as preventative maintenance - and I can honestly say it has never leaked.
