Another one! I'm shocked why these old very distinctive Defenders are being stolen.
Fingers crossed they find it. A relation of mine who lives in the area told me this morning that there was one taken on the same night at Farlow which I believe is about 30mins away. No other details at this time though. Too much of a coincidence not to be related?

That isn't far away. Perhaps coincidence but who knows?

I’m told it’s been recovered down the road in Astley, no idea if it is damaged at all. Good news though!

Good news!! If it’s in one piece all the better. Now get him to fill it full of security measures!

Let’s hope it’s not been damaged too badly.
Our neighbouring farm had their TD5 and Ifor Williams knicked a couple of months ago. Like this one it was ‘Farm Condition’ . I thought it was a goner but Norfolk Police found it and the trailer (separately) up the end of an industrial area using a drone looking for another stolen vehicle. They thought it had been left there by the thieves to check it hadn’t got a tracker. They were also very lucky. Mind, the Police had both the truck and trailer for a while after it was recovered getting forensics done. |

If only we had stronger deterrents to deter thieves, chopping a hand off would be a great starting point, it would certainly reduce thefts because not many defenders have auto boxes 2015 HT XS 90

I am starting to think that its very local arse holes stealing these and destroying them, rather than going out the country or dismantled for parts. Everyone that's been recovered has been found just down the road from where they were nicked from. Take mine for instance, found 2 miles away from me.
Great news to see another one been found and returned Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

I think you are partially right, Procta.
I think there are localised gangs and individuals who steal Defenders and these are small time criminals who will move on to anything they can make a bit of money on. But I also think there are specialist organised gangs who are more or less professional at their work. They are more than likely pinching Range Rovers and any other vehicle of value. As yours was burnt out Procta, yours sadly falls into the first category. I have said this before, but I think we all need to look very carefully at where we are buying second hand bits from. I walked around the second hand parts section of the Peterborough Show this year. No doubt, a large proportion of what was there had been sourced responsibly (sounds a bit like my local fish and chip shop), but you have to question how much of what was laying on the floor had once been someones pride and joy, before it was stolen and ended up at the Showground. |
