guys - wonder if you can help?
no worries with the NAS drive - just the operator. I compressed some photos earlier did for some reason when I saved them I thought it was going to save them with a different suffix but no it simply overwrote the old files ![]() does the NAS keep older versions and if so how do I recover them? many thanks. |

do you have the recycle bin enabled on the share ?
might be worth having a look in the bin ? |

I don't think I do bpman but even if I did I'm not sure that would work as I've not deleted them but updated (compressed) the files (photos).
I'm sure I'd read somewhere the NAS keeps last 5 files variations? |

![]() oh dear I think someone has hacked me. I'm sure I used to have a short cut onto the nas drive for settings etc but that's no longer on the desktop (can't be sure it was there because I don't ever recall using it). If I try and log onto my nas via the internet using my home broadband I get security warning of unsafe / non legit site and it even suggests I may have been redirected to a false site - and it asks me for my log in details. If I try and do the same via my phones hot spot - no probs. No warnings and my log-in details are there and ready to simply log in. any advice would be very much appreciated. I have no idea where to go with this? thank you. |

so I have a works email address which is hosted by a 3rd party.
I have two email accounts which are linked. I've started getting emails from one to the other purporting to be from a hacker asking for ransom. how do they do that and I presume my best course of action is to contact the 3rd party hosting the emails? |

Just because it's your email address, doesn't mean it was your account that was used to send it. The senders address is really spoofed. If there's nothing in your sent items then it's being spoofed. Whoever Hosts your email needs to configure the spf record properly. |

geewiss.
bloody IT. I ended moving over to a Windows exchange email account and no more spoof pooh since. ![]() however this IT stuff appears to be a blackhole of never ending problems ![]() so everything was all dandy and working fine. NAS drive accessible through my android phone, everything working just fine with my new laptop etc etc. Until I decided to move from talktalk to Virgin media for various reasons..... yep all fine until I try and log into the NAS drive remotely from my phone and now it says 'can't connect to server'. while I'd like to think it makes no difference as I can still acess files locally I have reconfigured the wiring to the NAS / router / laptop as the router is now in a different location. any pointers on how to get this working again would be gratefully received. ![]() |
