I can't comment on your original question but I've found SSE to be about the best of a poor bunch overall.
They seem to keep their prices fairly stable, compared to some. I would avoid EON like the Plague though! $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

We've been with Bulb for a year or so. No problems so far, and are a lot cheaper than SSE that were our previous supplier. Darren

We've been with Bulb for about 18 months now. Very good except for slightly confused emails chasing for readings after saying ones saying they don't need a reading...?!
Customer service on chat and phone are good though and we use them for our PV as well now. Overall a 110 UW - '15 2.2 90 - '85 V8 soft-top RRC - '84 5 door, Option Pack C, 33k miles from new --- Elise S1 - '00 Millennium SE Elan +2 - '68 kit built by my dad Panda 4x4 - '87 in Italy |

The worst that's likely to happen is that they go bust. Ofgem are pretty experienced handling bankrupt energy firms now as they've had plenty of practice. All that happens is that you're transferred to another firm. We ended up at Octopus who have been fine so far.

With Bulb for 18m - no problems at all. Daughter just joined up & they seem still very efficient/competitive. Richard

I've been with Bulb 6 months, no issues at all so far, very easy efficient switch over.
I now have that 'warm and fuzzy feeling' (as the salesman told me) knowing all my electric comes from 'green' sources. If you believe that!! Thanks guys for your comments, looks promising then.
LandroverAnorak, seeing as you were the first to comment regarding Bulb Energy, and as we share the same first name . Can you send me one of these referral things where we both get £50 credited to our electricity account if I sign up ? Here’s the link on how it’s done: https://help.bulb.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/...-a-friend- |

Definitely not a reason for not using this company, but there does seem to be a bit of a pattern in the small independent energy companies who are miles cheaper than everyone else suddenly going out of business.
The electricity doesn’t run out but some customers of other firms ended up being supplied by a big company which was exactly what most of them were trying to get away from. If you ended up with Octopus AMBxx, I think you were very fortunate. None of the big ones seem much good. Scottish Power tell me I cant have a smart meter because I have an Economy 7 tariff. Me thinks they just want me off my Economy 7 tariff ? I’m not that desperate for a smart meter |
