Has it got full main dealer service history? If yes then even
If it's a serviceable part , it's down to them!
Anyhow not sure what serviceable part failure would cause
A 25k engine to self destruct:-@
Look forward to the answer. As I'm looking to replace my
300 tdi with a tdci:-/ Have fun be happy

what he said. if its a serviceable part and its been serviced correctly with OEM parts then its their problem. they cant wriggle out of that one I'm afraid (assuming you didnt wade upto the bonnet and hydraulic the engine)

I had a TD5 engine go at 97,000 miles on a Disco 2 10 days out of warranty. Land Rover initially offered 50% eventually got them up to 75% plus dealer fitted new clutch at cost at same time. Bill would have been around £7.5K. Be polite but persistent with dealer.

Always be polite the person you deal with isn't responsible
For the engine giving out. But if it has ful Landrover history
Insist on engine replacement at thief cost , make very complaint
In writing, follow up every phone conversation with a letter
Be calm but firm . If it has full landrover history , they will
Cough up eventually. Normally they send engine back to the
Person that assembled it to be rebuilt. Have fun be happy

Brazil 2005 Defender 110 300 Tdi SW Epsom Green
kevinz3,

same issue with a friend here in Brazil. Engine packed at just 35k Km.. Exact the same broken bits + the way it happened. LR covered it. So far they've replaced (over the same 110):

Gearbox
2x Clutch + cover
2x master + slave clutch cylinders
ABS/TC ECU
Turbo
Exhaust manifold
EGR valve
Vacuum pump

Its a y2009 Puma. 236 days parcket at LR workshop due to the faults above and because they crashed the landie and also bent the wings during the engine swap at LR finest.

We established the 300TDI as "the" Land Rover for our conditions. The Pumas and TD5s just can't take our dirty Diesel and humidity + constant wadings and lack of LR support over certain places. We had the 300TDI until 2006, with TD5 interior and dash. The later 300TDI engine was made in Brazil by International Harvester / MWM. Bit stronger, new turbo and Euro II, but a LOT noisier than the early 300TDIs.

Take a look at LR's service and technical bulletins. There is a lot of trouble going on regarding early versions of the TDCI. Probably you could manage to replace yours at no cost, after some arguing.
