Did the trip to work this morning of 100 miles with the sumo bars now fitted, the steering does feel reassuringly heavier and more solid, looking forward to the 100 miles home this afternoon.
I haven't changed the steering damper as it was perfectly ok. Click image to enlarge Very happy with the Raptor paint finish on the chequerplate too, whilst the previous rattle cans has lasted well nearly 2 years with not much correct prep by me due to lack of knowledge I thought I would go the Raptor route this time and whilst you slightly lose some of the definition of the chequer I'm pleased with the result and it means I wont be ordering the Nakatanenga side steps just yet. Chose not to paint the stainless fixings as they match against the fixings used with the black Optimill door hinges Whilst the sidesteps were off a good spraying of Dinitrol was applied to the inside to help prolong the life off them. Went to pick up the SVX from my dealer after maintenance and spotted this green beauty which also had been in for maintenance. Looks in top condition. Regretfully not for sale, which is good as I might have had some explanations to do at home now.

No numberplate..... Asked about that as I thought this beauty might be for sale. But no, here in Switzerland registration numbers don’t go with the vehicle, but with the owner. So you can keep the same number plate all your life and carry it over vehicle after vehicle. But it is also possible to register 2 vehicles under the same number, take out one insurance for those two vehicles, and use one of those 2 vehicles with that same number plate as you please. (one at the time of course). That’s why most number plate holders on cars front and back side are of a type with a quick release system so that you can easily take off and put on the plates. This owner here apparently has 2 cars registered on one plate, and took it home for use on the other car. And as to our main dealer service, think it is slightly better than what I often read on here is the case in the U.K. Eric You never actually own a Defender. My side steps were just starting to show very slight signs of rust so I thought I would take action.
Treated them thoroughly inside and out before priming and then coating in Raptor. After curing for a week they seem to be spot on, and look a lot better so hopefully they have a few more years in them now! Happy with the result Click image to enlarge |

Popped out this morning for work, so enjoyed the delights of the Black Country's road infrastructure in inclement weather.
Passed this Merc on my way back to the office which gave me a little chuckle Click image to enlarge 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone 2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone 2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW |
