I have a spare set of Compomotive PD1881 rims with BFG 265/65/18 KO2's fitted from my D3. This rim is on a ET44. I see adapters can be bought to fit these to a defender.

I had a set from Rakeway on my old 90, did over 70k miles with them and no problem, you’ll need spigot adapter rings as well to fit D3 wheels.

I prefer 16's but if I were to go bigger they would be my choice. Great looking wheels.
