Hi all,
Found details on the net of a cover that goes over the fuel filler space and stops all the muck and dirt getting in there. Has anyone else tried one before? I was thinking about getting one. Details at www.defendoor.co.uk if anyones interested. Daz110 |

I wreckon you would need to buy a hundred for use over here. They don't look like much of a tight fit and a decent length of corrogations would probably pop it out. I like the idea though. Would prefer if it had a safety line or tether on it though. Land Rovers are an addiction. Toyotas are for quitters.

Agreed. I could even imagine it being sucked out on the motorway (although I guess they've tested it). Still, I'd prefer the peace of mind. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Hello fellow Defender Owners,
I found this forum through the large number of visits that I've received from this thread. I am the person who developed this product and would like to explain how the idea was really created of necessity. We live in the Sumava Mountains of the Czech Republic and mount four snow chains on a daily basis just to get into school and work in the morning. We had 110 cm of snow last week. The spring and fall are wet and muddy and I really have friends who get out of the Defender and walk rather than tackle the hill with me. I constantly had mud, ice and snow in my recess and had simply used a rag wrapped around filler cap and while attempting to clean out the inside corners of the recess I got the idea. We have access to a thermoforming company and built 3 models before the finished product. Now in reply to a few of your comments.
I know a few who attached a cord in the following manner. It's better to burn the hole in with a hot nail than to drill.
I've driven 1000 km at 140 -150 km/hr and didn't loose it. We have never had a complaint that they were not tight enough but indeed many who thought they were too tight.
You have to create a pretty deep scratch down the side of your Defender to be able to flick it off.
Hi Nicks. Would you agree with all of the above?
Hey hey. That's getting personal. 1. Czech Republic 2. We were known for quality in Europe before the Communists took over and are working our way back to the top. Watch out UK In ending I would like to say thank you for your comments and hope to be welcomed into your forum and become an active member. We are making a family trip to Newark in July and always like to meet new friends. |

Defendoor,
Good to see a manufacturer with an interest in his market place and its responses. Is there any intention in fitting a tether to this product in the future? On the Czech Republic side of things, you are right. There are some very good engineering companies in Czech, both past and present. After all didn't one of them (Skoda) build the bearing hub on the London Eye. Land Rovers are an addiction. Toyotas are for quitters. WWW.CQLROC.ORG |

We have tried just about every type of glue there is and nothing sticks to the LDPE, even if jammed into an inside corner. Our best option was to drill or burn the hole into the top backside (as in the photo above) and run a line from there to the filler tube.
Interesting, I didn't know that. I guess that gives us a place in the center of London and everything's sort of riding on us. I did however see a documentary last night on the Queen's coronation in '53 - fabulous - |

They are a good fit, i can't see any movement at 85mph. but also easy to remove. How do you go about painting them Defendoor?
