Td5 timing chain
Hi,
Is anyone aware of any timing chain problems with the Td5? Does the chain need to be replaced after so many miles as, for example, the serpentine belt does?

Had mine out at 173000 miles fixing gasket trouble. Worn but still serviceable. Put it back in...
Thought it was recommended at 200,000 though. Ex scottish & southern 110 Td5 van (shed) with PTO driven winch (L-R special vehicles)
Before that, Disco 1, Freelander 1, 26105382 80" with a 1600cc (not much slower)

Malta
hi unearting this thread.

I am trying to buy some spare bits to keep for future use. I was told that a timing chain should be replaced at 200k intervals. I am pretty sure the engine i have has went beyond 200k and has been rebored oversize once in malta with a new radiator included (not my job) I contacted the shop that did it and was told the original chain was left on.

I am looking into the LRworkshop site for part numbers. I suppost the best fix/service is to change chain/sprokects pads as well. Does the hydraulic tensioner need changing? (I guess a decision that should be take with bits out of their place.)

Is the part number LHA000030 for the kit that involves chain and two sprockets good for a td5 15P ?
Is there a part number for a kit that includes all the bits?

Should I be concerned with the oil pick up chain? I have an oil pressure guage and I am constantly on the look out for warning lamps (my bad habbit)

Thanks
