The only difference is fade resistance. They keep cooler for longer under sustained or repeated heavy breaking. Especially effective if towing or loaded

The vented also help if you run bigger tyres (like 255/85) as the extra diameter really makes a difference.... when I swapped an old 90 over to vented and was up laning in Wales, giving it "the beans" when out on the road bits, it really helped stop brake fade.
