Really don't get the superfluous rear lights...something else that is a bit freelandery.

I can't express just how much I dislike those rear lights.

Lots of folk appear to dislike the rear lights, I, for one, think they’re an inspired piece of design work. I love ‘em.

Rear lights are closely inspired by those of the current FFRR. I like them, but not sure if I will also like that smaller secondary set.

You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

The write up looks good to me. 3700kg tow, 300kg on the roof, 900kg in the boot, 900mm wading depth, 420nm of torque, middle seat up front and a double rubberised floor for easy cleaning.

Sounds like good bet for my next machine, just need to get saving. King is dead, long live the King...

3700KG tow capacity is a very odd figure. This can only be possible with coupled brakes, as any trailer over 3500KG GW must have coupled brakes. But the Defender could tow 4000Kg on coupled brakes, so the new one is actually *less* capable in that regard. Presumably they do allow some kind of coupled braking set up though which is good, just a shame it doesn't match the old one. In any case appropriate trailers are very rare... 2011 110 USW

I have a "reminder" from JLR that the "big event" will be on around 5.00pm Aussie time tonight.
Haven't said much about the "new" Defender, because much has been "myth & hearsay', but I guess all that will change after tonight.
Not long to go now! Pickles.

So 3pm in WA then. Cool. I thought I'd have to wait till tomorrow. It's actually growing on me, but I think/hope the 130 will be the workhorse we are waiting for - more load space, and looking at the 110 proportions, there's room for some rear overhang.

Well 30 years ago in 1989 the Discovery was launched to an newly developing SUV world. it's kinda fitting that the defender get's launched at this show too. Times have moved a long way and no doubt in a few hours all will be revealed. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest

Let’s take bets on what colour McGoverns manly cravat will be today.

Mousy Paisley is my guess.

Looks like i’m not in the intended market for one on several counts a) TOO Old , looks likes it’s intended for under 25’s not over 60’s b) i’m already the owner of an ancient Defender c) I don’ t need a life-long PCP to buy one tying into a new one every 3 years! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!
