Indeed. Some of my questioning of A Plan was around why they place business with Markerstudy- it doesn’t reflect well. I’m happy with the outcome as A Plan offered to step in very quickly- which I think is recognition that Markerstudy aren’t at the races. I’ve also got 4 policies with A Plan, so that may have helped, don’t know.

It is disturbing how much of the UK insurance market is now provided by Markerstudy or its subsidiaries, it is hard to avoid the company now.

Glad you were happy with our service  in regards to using Markerstudy, they are one of 40+ insurers on our panel and we carefully select those insurers based on their level of cover and service - there are quite a few we don't use for various reasons.
The majority of the 'bad press' they receive online unfortunately isn't due to their own service. They use brokers for their policies like ourselves and many of these brokers don't have our highly acclaimed reputation (search us on trustpilot) and therefore draw in bad reviews etc. We have a specific team within Markerstudy that we have a relationship with who understand the cars we insure in the specialist branch in Thatcham and as you are A-Plan clients we do urge you to contact us first for a claim (regardless of insurer) so we can handle the claim and step in where needed. Tthat's all part of why you pay brokerage fees and essentially it's what we are here for  to make sure the claims process for you is as smooth as possible.
