I guess it depends on the underwriter. Last year on mine the addition of a winch was another hundred quid. this year, no extra for the winch and other mods included, no extra.

Just had a VERY good quote from them for the BM.
Will try them for the 110 too in November. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

On the flip side I wasn't that impressed with AF when I had cover for one or two of our vehicles with them in the past. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Mis - in what way? I can't stand poor service. Anything along those lines?
The downside was that the sales girl was VERY pushy and seem affronted when I didn't accept and pay up there and then. I need to compare! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

IIRC poor attitude over the phone. I know there were one or two other things but can't recall the specifics now. Steve.

I just had a "call back" from Adrian Flux... Well, to cut a long story short, they want over £1k for my 2010 90XS.. Only mods are steering guard and A bar with spots...
Looks like I'll be selling up and going for a Smart Car! ... ,-------, .. I [__][_]|__ .. I __ |"_|"__| .. "(o)====(o)" ^^_-^-_^-^_^^^^^--^^^^ PAUL G7ALW 14.200 USB 26FB458 / 27.275 SSB |

those are not modifications they are optional extras. Mods are chopping up the vehicle with non oem products. Simply bolting on some LR parts is not modifying. Would you tell them you have installed electric windows as a modification for example ? Remember insurance sales drones are clueless, if they hear 'modification' they read that as non standard when really it is a standard LR vehicle. Pom |

Adrian Flux declined to even quote for my unmodified 110, which they also did the pervious year with my D3. "Sorry sir we will not be anywhere near as competitive as anybody else since Sun Alliance withdrew the underwriting".
I then tried to get quotes elsewhere which I did very sucessfully until I asked what the difference would be if I had a winch fitted. The typical answer was we wont insure you. "Why would you need a winch!" Last edited by flinty99 on 5th Jul 2011 10:05am. Edited 1 time in total |

Try DirectLine - use them for our 110 and they were just over £300 fully comp. No one else got anywhere near to that. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |
