If someone is asked what spec they would like the new "Defender" in and asks for a manual gearbox option, why the derision?

It's all become very tribal and shouty. Shame really.

Because it won’t be available as a manual. Or were you being sarcastic? |

It occurred to me whether you can order the new Defender with a white roof? I think this will be one key thing that will make it look Defendery.

Miles, judging by the popularity of a contrast roof on other models and the cost for ticking that box, it is a huge money spinner for JLR so it will be an option, along, I suspect, with a panoramic roof so you pay for the entire roof to be specially painted and then you pay even more to have 60% of it cut out and thrown in the recycling bin. You may find that where you once had to pay quite a bit extra to have the roof painted the same colour as the vehicle, you now have to pay extra to have it in white I always thought that a white roof was essential but I must admit I'm getting used to the Puma with body colour. Oddly, a white roof is usually easier to keep clean especially with a roof rack on. I think it's a shame there are no manuals at all in the range. I've heard emissions being cited as the reason on other models, which is , because you can still buy a Ford Ranger or an L200 with a manual box, I've just been looking at one. --- 2006 Defender 110 SW 300Tdi • 2011 Ford Ranger XLT crewcab • 2015 Defender 110 Station Wagon Utility TDCi |

White 90 D240 Standard (base spec), plus air if that's an option, with black wheels in the smallest size they do them. Probably 19 from what I can make out.
I'd like a PHEV, but as is the current way of things, they only offer that in a higher powered version, rather than a more sensible mid/low spec output. I suspect they won't offer air on the base spec. Only if you order the next model up, then add the "premium package" that includes 7 things you don't want, plus the one thing you do. It's the rust after a year that confirms you have genuine wheels. Will JLR have a snorkel or just a raised air intake? Winch, proper bash plate, and also things like roof racks are always better when bought aftermarket; and often a double benefit of also being cheaper. |
