So does this mean SVO has been working on New Defender special editions like they did with the RRS SVRs in Spectre? V8S/C 90 SW or Crew Cab pickup.......... Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Slight curve here or there, but we have pretty much seen the finished article. It’s ain’t t no G Wagon remake, which is a bit of a shame, but does look a practical size and will be a capable vehicle which will be a great D4 replacement. 1951 80" S1 2.0

In my youth we had a Series 2a SWB and I didn't like the Series 3 because it had the headlights in the wings and a plastic grill. Eventually I grew to like it.
The 90 then was released in '84 and I really didn't like it for it's lack of an inset grille and plastic arches. Eventually I grew to like that too. When the name "Defender" was launched in '91 I thought they had lost the plot and were trashing the brand with a ridiculous name like some sort of super hero. Yet here we are totally accepting the name and proud of it. The new Defender will probably grate on my sense of nostalgia for the brand for a while but I'm pretty sure that eventually I'll like it. This is just change after all and most people don't like change but eventually come to accept it. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X |

But the fact is JLR have actually stated that part of the loss made in 18/19 was higher warranty costs. In previous years the they considered the risk over completeness and accuracy of warranty provisions to be one of the most significant risks requiring to be separately identified in their report. No getting away from the actual facts: 18/19 - Other expenses - Product Warranty - £1,016 million 17/18 - Other expenses - Product Warranty - £698 million
Whilst the UK market is important the US market is larger and their JD Power figures are very poor and on these two measures a long way from Toyota, who also won 3 awards against LR's 0: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge
D5 at 40k units per annum is over 12% down on previous year and nowhere near the unit contribution required for the 1m vehicle total, indeed it's well below the run rate for the D4 - just over 20% down on 15/16 (last year of full production). Not sure what model RRvogue refers to, RR model itself did 56k units in 18/19. |

"The much-publicised SVO operation has all the hallmarks of a senior manager’s vanity project. Thankfully, it looks like realisation is dawning with some SVO projects like the Range Rover SV Coupe binned." https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/cov...t-16073109 Given the current cost cutting exercise does SVO even have a future? |

The problem with chasing a fickle market is exactly that - it is fickle. Make a lot of hay while the sun shines, but then you remember it's a British summer and the next thing you are underwater. Chasing a trend is a dangerous game, where the utility markets may be less profitable but keep coming back for more if you have the right product.
I must admit I was staggered by over a BILLION pounds of warranty claims though - and for it to be up about 50%. I'd like to see the long-term analysis and a breakdown of what it was spent on. --- 2006 Defender 110 SW 300Tdi • 2011 Ford Ranger XLT crewcab • 2015 Defender 110 Station Wagon Utility TDCi |

In 1948 Land Rover produced an agricultural vehicle that made use of surplus aluminium and an expertise in working with it building aircraft during WW2 (but no knowledge of Cathodic corrosion between different metals) it was a vehicle of its time, it hardly changed over 60 years except to comply with changing safety rules and styling tastes but NOW it cannot hope to meet them with its previous design. I hope that JLR has managed to design and engineer another vehicle that will be able to comply with changing legislation without too big a body style change. While we shouldn’t condemn the past to a motor museum, lets embrace something that is capable of remaining virtually unchanged for the next 60-70 years. While I doubt I have another 30 years, let alone 60-70 years, life left I would love to be able to read this forum in 2080 when the owners of Land Rover announce that they are about to replace their long lived utility vehicle designed between 2014 and 2019.............. LET’S EMBRACE THE NEW DEFENDER, IT IS COMING WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT, LONG LIVE THE NEW DEFENDER! I do hope, as my Defender approaches 25 years old that the new one will wear its age so well Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
