After I blew my manifold , I fitted one too . In today’s heat , under load , she sat at 380 , I have seen 480 , but I rarely go over 45/50 mph tops . I’d love to know the magic figure that the manifold pops . So I am too looking forward to others results

Isn't it also quite sensitive to fitment position and depth on the manifold?

650 degrees C seems the max safe limit, but it depends on where you're reading the egt.
below links are good to read. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-chatt...limit.html -------- http://www.offroadexpress.kiwi/Forums/viewtopic.php?t=24697 -------- |

Go look up some Gale Banks from Banks power on YouTube if you want to learn about diesel tuning :
Bosch also do a Diesel engine management book with lots of info and parameters, also have an Automotive handbook with lots of figures and graphs. |

That is precisely the place I tapped my EGT probe as well. Works well and gives a good stable reading. Supposed to give the best reading as it is at the confluence of all the manifold branches too.
I have found with my TD5 the EGT values are very sensitive to engine setup, engine health, vehicle weight, road conditions, altitude and weight of your right foot... I think I can safely say level/stage of remap too. Out of habit I wait until the EGT values return to about 180DegC before switching off, especially after a long run down the motorway. When my water pump was on the way out the EGT values were a good 100-150 or so DegC higher and this was more noticeable when the vehicle was working hard. So keep an eye on the numbers as they can be a diagnostic tool and indication of something that is not happy within the engine bay. There are some good comparison threads from other forums discussing EGT in relation to MadMan gauges and it will become clear that every vehicle is different to a greater or lesser degree ( ). Can never have too many gauges... |

Yeah I see what you mean. It often gets pushed quite hard both on and off road.
Ive set the alarm to 720 degrees at the minute though not hard s real chance to drive it much since fitting. I know what you mean about gauges some hace none as they just cause worry some have 100s Instagram @defender_ventures Empire Tuning - Agent |
