Wheel Offset and tyre width on rims
Had a dig around, can’t really find the answer...

16x10 modular steel wheels with an offset -32 Will they need arch extensions? If not, what width tyre will fit under the arches without the need to extend. Anyone know?

Alternatively will 12.5 width tyres on a 8” rims, J@@p community seem to all say yes.

Thanks

I had 285 section tyres on a 90 with 8" wheels that were -32 offset and the tyres were over an inch out of the factory arches so would imagine 10" wheels would be even worse.

The 110 has 285 tyres on 8" wheels and 0 offset which, whilst throwing a bit of muck up the sides, are legal with standard arches.

From memory 12.5" tyres can go on a 8" rim, that is the narrowest you could go but worth checking with the tyre manufacturer Thumbs Up 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop

Whilst it won't help with the tyre question, this offset calculator will give a good idea of where the wheels will sit:

Thanks... everyone

Think I'll stick with the Bowler rims and go with the 275/70R18 Toyo Open Country MT's. They do a wider 12.5 tyre in 33", but that might be too wide and cause rubbing on the radio arms on lock, does appear to be approved to fit a 8" rim OK.

I love the deep dish modulars, but don't wish to put on extended arches

Thumbs Up

I bought a set Gwyn Lewis mud shields on the, they stop crap being thrown up the sides.

You can still fit a 'deep dish' modular just stick with 16x8" and fit a 285 tyre (11.25")

-32 offset will look a bit like this in terms of arch/poke.

I have decided on some 16x8 -et35 modulars, on BFG KM3. 285/75’s. Seems to be the best combo. 305’s might the too big, some people say no, some say yes... they will fit under the lifted body / arches, it would probably poke out, and fail the MOT.

So, the 18” Bowlers on BFG KO2’s will have to be sold, I don’t have room to store a spare set of wheels and tyres.
