Click image to enlarge This is a day I have dreaded Loki my Blue Merle my dearest friend died today three weeks short of his eighteenth birthday. He died in the back of the Land Rover at the vets. Loki was a crowd stopper he loved people and people loved him but most of all he loved me and I loved him. Even at eighteen, he looked no more than three years old. Over the weekend he suddenly went downhill so this morning I booked him into the vets. I parked up at the vets and as we were fifteen minutes early for the appointment I opened the back door and sat with him he seemed fine, then he came towards me and nuzzled my face, I did not know it then but he was saying goodbye, he then lay down and yawned and that was it, he had gone, my best friend my constant shadow, my tolerant little man that never once bared his teeth to me was no more Loki, whose fur absorbed at times my tears and who listened, with a cocked head and pricked ears when I ranted, shouted and talked nonsense but never once disagreed with me. Who kept me safe and made sure I was never sad or lonely. Whose enthusiasm for life dragged me out in the foulest of weather and also on the brightest of days. So my special friend, thank you for being my special dog without equal, for teaching me about so many things and making so many memories that even now allow me to smile through the pain. For the rest of the years there will be an empty space in my life, and empty hook on which your lead hung, an empty space in my heart, a heart that wants to break but can't because of the threads of love and loyalty you wove around it and of the seventeen plus years you gave me and all those years you made me smile, I will miss you Loki. Run free Loki across that Rainbow Bridge climb Mountains in that other place and should my shadow cross yours in my final breaths I hope you are there with that look upon your face to guide me. Feeling for you buddy.
But what a wonder life Loki had with you - and you with him. He was a very lucky pup to have had you as his pack leader. Try and keep the good times close. Dave Shipping is my thing. If we cant shift it, to anywhere, it cant be shifted!! md.couriers@virgin.net |

I feel for you. Beautiful and touching end to a good life well lived by the sounds of it.
I've had dogs all my life and it never gets any easier. I sympathise with you wholeheartedly. |

Sorry for your loss and I must admit it is a little dusty in here after reading your post.
I know the pain of losing a dog. We lost ours 5 yrs ago and even talking about him now makes me sad, but we replaced him with a WCS, which helped but not 100%. As others have said they are our children substitutes, we'd do anything for them. 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

Really sorry to read this 😔, dogs really do become part of your life, I still miss our family border collie who was put to sleep over 10 years ago due to a tumour.

so sorry.........
as above have had dogs over the years and the pain of them passing on never gets any easier (and we still come back for more) whilst they have all been special in their own way I still think about one of my best mates who developed a massive cancer and had to put to sleep over 15years ago |

It's not an easy road you're travelling at the moment but it will get easier. You have to focus on the 18 years you had together. I feel for you as I lost a dog earlier this year.
We have horses, donkeys, dogs and a cat and it is always heart wrenching when you have to say goodbye. You have to take solace in the knowledge that they have had a loving caring home because in this World not all animals are so fortunate. Defender 90XS SW Mini Countryman Cooper S Morgan Plus 8 |
