Airtronic D2 diesel heater install
Finally got myself a night heater for those cold morning/cold winter rallies.

Installation time.
I didn't want to start messing with the old fuel lines so went down the route of a separate fuel tank.

Location chosen, under the bonnet. Size, 2.5 litres
After some pondering, I decided on the drivers side of the engine bay away from the turbo, exhaust, air intake and oil filter.
Using the supplied bracket I mounted it via spare bit of metal I found to the wing top to inner wing support bracket

Bench/leak test for a few hours and no leaks

There will be a fuel filter fitted inline just to be on the safe side. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Did a little more tonight, planned the location of the heater. Its going under the passenger side rear seat. Started drilling the mounting holes but my hole saw packed in Sad Time to order a new one. 1999 Defender TD5 110

While waiting for some more fuel pipe to appear, I finished off the fuel tank install. Mounted as shown above, and then fuel pump mounted on the inner wing by the engine air filter inlet pipe.
There is also a small filter before the pump as well.

Decided to mount the 801 controller here:

Now I need to extend the wiring to from the 801 to the main heater loom and extend the wires for the fuel pump supply. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Tidied up the wires for the diesel heater control panel and replaced the heater loom cables joined with choc blocks with Econseal multi plug.

Exhaust wrap and exhaust clamps arrived, so next job there is to secure the exhaust with a bracket and wrap in insulation.

The final wiring step is to add a 70amp relay to feed the heater switched via a carling switch on the dash. 1999 Defender TD5 110
