if there's obvious bubbling my experience suggests you'll get it sorted. |

No quibble on paintwork bubbles when I took mine in.
I had to argue about the rear cross member because "chassis corrosion isn't covered by the paint warranty". My view was that if it's on display, it's not chassis, it's bodywork, and they resprayed it. Mike |

I had my windscreen surround done a year ago. Bubbling already. LR York wouldn't cover as they said it didn't cover corrosion from the edge of a panel (!). Given how crap Hull were and the distance to Ripon, I've just paid to have it done by a local bodyshop. Windscreen surround, inside rear doors where door rubs floor at base of seat and top up the underchassis black. Change for a coffee from £1000, but given it's saved me 2 days work going to Ripon, it was worth it.

^^^ AMBxx I’ve used ripon for my warranty bodywork and they have been great, no quibble and a nice loan car while mine was in. Customer service was great and only 20 miles or so from York.

I know. Ripon were great when I used them, but I'm another 15 miles to the east of York. By the time I've driven up there to get the approval, again to drop off, then again to collect, it's cheaper for me to pay to get the work done locally.
On top of that, Ripon LR no longer own the bodyshop -only the dealership was bought. |

My Defender was inspected on 24th April, photographed and a warranty claim submitted to JLR. I was told last week that LR Warranty Dept are processing it, so well over 3 months. Now that's what I call excellent customer service (Not). Defender 90XS SW

I believe you can count on anti-corrosion-warranty if you have holes from corrosion. Bubbles and other superficial corrosion problems are not taken into account.

I had been told at two annual services that photographs had been taken and JLR had authorised the repairs, but nothing ever happened.
In reality, I don’t believe a camera ever went near my Defender as all of the damage had to be photographed by the body shop again and then authorisation had to be gained. Nothing moved until I kept phoning the dealer. I can’t comment whether it was the Dealer or JLR dragging their feet, or maybe it was both of them, but I get the feeling that until the body shop we’re engaged, JLR had never been contacted. Maybe there is a policy of only carrying out repairs once at the end of the warranty? |

All sounds a bit disappointing, but what was I expecting....? I'll aim to call in on one of the dealers and see what sort of a reception I get. Anybody in South Wales had any experience?

Have you had the annual bodywork inspection done by a LR dealer?

It's a good point, but I don't know, as I only bought it this year. It was main dealer serviced until May of last year, as I have a print-out of the online Service history, so I assume it was up to that point. It will be due for the next service before too long.
I presume from your suggestion that a bodywork inspection has to be carried out with the service, although I can't find mention of it in the booklet. |

Yes. The bodywork inspection is never mentioned anywhere, but others on here who get independents to service would still take it to the dealers annually for the unmentioned inspection.
If it’s a main dealer purchase you should be fine. I ask because I don’t how petty they are getting since JLR started losing money. The LR extended warranty shot up in price. I presume it’s no coincidence that it was the same time. |
