Water Leak behind Brake Lights
The rear of my Defender has a leak when it rains, it appears to be running down the rear corner from the gutter and then coming in behind the brake lights, creating puddles in the rear corners where the wiring covers for the lights are.

I've used Sikaflex for all of the body seams but reluctant to permanently glue the light bodies to the vehicle. Has anyone used thin gauge closed cell neoprene? I was thinking of cutting circular gaskets and sticking them onto the rear of the light units with a central hole for the wiring to run through or is there a better solution?

Thanks, Harry

The rear lights should have thin neoprene gaskets as standard.

Thanks Andy, the lights have been swapped for LED units by the previous owner and there are no gaskets behind so guess that's the cause of the problem. Thumbs Up 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop

When I fitted NAS lights to mine, I made gaskets with some sticky-back neoprene:

I had the same problem with mine and went down the dum dum route, worked well so far, have tried to source a part number for the neoprene gaskets but no luck so far, unless anybody has the part number handy? Cogito ergo sum

Thanks guys, I did a quick search to see if there was an off-the-shelf solution but couldn't find anything so ordered some sticky neoprene in 1.5mm thickness and will make up some gaskets like LRA did Very Happy 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop

Not sure which LED lights you have, but if it would happen to be 95 mm Le Perei lamps, you can order their ready to use gaskets separately from DunBri group. Guess can be used on other brands 95 mm plinths/lamps also. Link below.
