Click image to enlarge 1. windscreen wipers won't return (park switch on wiper motor may be faulty ) 2. fuel gauge check wiring both ends i.e. tank and gauge 2.a check gauge go to FSD ground Ci054-2 to battery neg the gauge needle should go to full scale. 2.b IF gauge needle go to full scale you have wiring problem between gauge and tank sender or bad earth , fuel pump sender problem tank R E = 326 1/4 = 245 1/2 = 121 3/4 = 63 F = 8 tank plug pin out 4 3 2 1 (2) too fuel gauge (3) fuel gauge sender ground Last edited by dorsetsmith on 21st Jul 2019 9:18pm. I have the same whirring noise when the car turns on and also the single swipe by moving the windscreen wiper stalk downwards doesn't work? Fuel gauge has gradually moved up to the 3/4 mark today but as stated it has taken days getting there (filled it up last week) |

Can you buy the park switch separately or is it built into the motor or motor itself?

The park switch is replaceable on its own 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

As above, I have indeed replaced it, although now running a custom motor with solid link bars and pivots like modern wiper systems. Much less to go wrong 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Oooo think we need details Grafty...!
If you are going "in" to do the parking switch you might as well just go the whole hog and replace the wiper wheel boxes and push cable as well. Makes a huge difference if your wipers are a bit wayward... And of course since you have the dash out you might as well either fit a second washer nozzle or one of the superb Optimill nozzles and high power pump systems (with ever penny...), then there are heated mirrors and why not fit the wiring for a Madman gauge... |

Grafty I wouldn't mind learning more details about the parts you used and how you did it Geobloke is the wiper wheel boxes and push cable a big job or costly job? |

I know that some OEM parts can be just as good as genuine, I personally have never had a problem with some brands but in relation to the park switch do the aftermarket ones work well or is genuine LR the way to go?
Bearmach and Allmakes are around the £10 price point vs £25 for genuine? |

Not really. Takes a little bit to get the dash top off and centre dash panel out enough to work, mostly cross head screws. The hardest part is the fitting of the wheel boxes as you really need a second person to hold it in position whilst you do up the nut. Apart from that it is a worthwhile job. Oh and do not forget that this is a great time to do the DefenderVent mod too... |
