£4500 for a chopped up example that vaguely resembles a series 1 , £8000 for a workable 86” restoration and then up to 25k for a fully restored 80”
Bit vague but so is the market ! https://www.instagram.com/hustynminepark/ |

This has a lot going for it, but some negotiating would be required (or time travel) to bring it within budget.

Luckily our series 1 has been in the family for 40 years, and it was a family friend who it was brought from.
They are great to drive, not fast but just puts some enjoyment back into driving. Personally me being taller the 86” is spot on as there isn’t as much room in a 80” when I sat in one. The great thing about the 86 + 88” is that a lot of the series 2 parts fit so are cheaper. 1.6 and 2.0 engine parts can be expensive. You will love it Click image to enlarge 2005 90 XS 1954 86'' Series 1 tilt 1968 88” 2A 200tdi 2002 110 Hardtop |

If I was in the market at the moment I would have a look at this ebay no.264396825215
Very original base for a restoration project, and not silly money for what it is. |

^^^^ That's a gem, looks very complete and original and hasn't lost its original registraion (I hate "age related" plates which look so obviously non-original). If I had more space I'd snap that one up myself at that price, very reasonable by today's crazy standards.

This is nice too, although the seller seems confused about the wheelbase - it's a 109" not a107", as he acknowledges in the description, so why call it a 107" in the title? Weird!

Everyone has a different view on what's a lot of money or what isn't but you'll need relatively deep pockets to buy any S1 that's anything like decent or original. Also be prepared for the eye watering parts prices too and finally unless you can do the spannering yourself I wouldn't even entertain one but that goes back to my first comment, if money's no object........
