i know the ring ones wire up to the battery and the ground and to side lights so when you put on the side lights the drls will dim.

1. Take an ignition switched supply
2. Put it through a normally closed relay to the DRLs
3. Tap into the side light supply and take the wire to the relay to open it when side lights are turned on.

Hey presto, dimming DRLs

the one I have used in the past is the white/orange wire to the back of the radio in the dashboard

That's not a true ignition feed, it cuts out when the starter is turned and then comes back on.

White/green is ignition. Found on most of the dash switches.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Hi guys
Do DRL have to dim when the side lights are on, as I did not bother with the side lighter connection and then come on when the ignition is turned on and stay on when side lights are on, but no dimming?

They should either dim as Mo says or they should extinguish when side lights are switched on. Defender 90XS SW
