SJM,
The true: I have the MY 07 and I had some troubles with it, I cannot deny. Oil pan damaged Brake vacum pump Clutch Leakages in the transfer Rear door broken Other minor things like some pieces loosen, etc. I thing we are assuming part of the learning curve of LR with this new design. Thats a pity but I can afford that if it is cover by the guarantee. Despite those problems I will never change the Defender by other car except for a new Defender. We are very happy with it On the other hand those problems, as you can read in the bulletins, are already solved and probably you will be free of them. Also take in consideration that we tend to post here our problems but there is a lot of us that have defenders MY07 free of faults. Cheers and go ahead!! Mine has been a total nightmare BUT it has not stop me getting another in April. Mine (Christine) was one of the first off the line, i think or rather hope as the months have past they are getting better.

Remember, you only read about the BAD stuff on forums like this.
I have had no more problems with my 07 Defender than with my previous 02MY one. Also, I like many others here I'm sure, am a totally anal, nit-picking b@rstard when it comes to making sure my vehicle exits its warranty period in 100% factory spec. condition. I consider that as far as Land Rover are concerned, the vehicle that leaves the factory is about 95% finished. It's our job as the customer to see that the remaining 5% of the work is done during the warranty period. So what you see here is I believe, a lot of posts relating to the "finishing off" work. Sure, there are obviously a couple of guys here who have had real lemons, but you get that with any car brand. Most of us just have brilliant but unfinished vehicles in need of some ongoing TLC. It's probably more important that you buy from a good dealer since you will have them on speed dial for three years 2007 Defender 110 1970 Alfa Romeo 1750GTV |

I have a MY08 and so far I have added a lot of things and had only 2 issues that I need fixing by a dealer when I get back to one. They are leaking door seal and a weeping pinion seal.
Other than that I have had no issues. When I installed the checker plate on the sills I had to lift and realign all 4 doors. The Bearmach carrier sits a bit far out from the rear door than I'd like. Over all its been very good so far. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi LROCV ::: AULRO.com |

solmanic,
Perhaps we should ask for 5% off the purchase price. Usual niggles, but crap transmission (gearshift quality and backlash)!! Bosun |

15 months with mine now and no real problems.
I'm sure a few things will emerge over the next 2 years but I'll get them sorted under warranty. After that, I'll fix them myself with help from the good folks here. No hesitation about buying one. Love it. Wouldn't be without it. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |
