Sorry, not really the reply you asked for, but I was on the same stage like you some weeks ago. It did tons of reading and research, incl. talking to people who bought tunes and I arrived pretty soon at the decision to go for one of the two well-known tuning companies that sponsor this forum.

The sheer list of different makes that your company covers would make me doubt that they really knew the ins and outs of a Defender (eg. like EGR shut off). I'd assume they use some generic map. And if they even use a map from some respectable tuner, then you could as well go to them directly.

Whatever you might pay (slightly) more for the original tune you will recover with service and possible mods and general customer care later if you opt for a respectable tunner specialised on Defenders.

I am 150 per cent happy so far with the product, the support and customer interaction and don't regret any pence I've paid.

Good luck!

Boris

Phil, know exactly what you mean. It really hurt me, too. But I know that 5alive give a forum discount (I'm sure Bell will, too) and if you have a way to avoid VAT it's considerably less. Plus you get a fault code reader that will otherwise cost you some 20 or 30 quid, too, and that is really handy.
I saved up for it for two months and had to dig into savings, too. But in the long run I am certain it will pay off.

Cheers
Boris

I was not aware that a site discount was available for members.
I have been in touch with one of the two site sponsers regarding a tuning interface.
When pay day comes around I wil place my order! Any expenditure on a new serviseable vehicle could be regarded as uneccessary.
However have you considered the ongoing fuel savings, it is well known that EGR increases fuel burn and effects
engine life. The provision of a quality service to me is everything. This is generally does not go with cheap! :mrg Thumbs Up
