As pointed out by Mr Fox, series 1 land rovers were common as muck in Norfolk this weekend. We set out on saturday at 4.30 am to make the 100 mile or so trip in our 1957 2.0l diesel 88'' fire engine. 2 days of fun with the series one land rover club involving some gentle (not) green lanes & access to the headland on the Coast (thanks to the Breckland LR Club) to mention a couple of activities.
I also met some great people and their Land Rovers including one or two from this forum, good to meet you finally. Here are a few of my favorite shots from this weekend Click image to enlargen7 by Richard Holmes, on Flickr Click image to enlargen8 by Richard Holmes, on Flickr Click image to enlargen8 by Richard Holmes, on Flickr Click image to enlargen6 by Richard Holmes, on Flickr Click image to enlargen2 by Richard Holmes, on Flickr and finally my 'lucky find - an empty forecourt - 15 miles from the supplying dealer in Norwich back in 1957.... Yes, Small and I were there. We set out 30 minutes before we needed to arrive
It was an excellent show with over 200 Series one of a variety of types. Great Show with brilliant planning by the organisers. Next year in Cornwall in June ... will set out next month to arrive in time given our maximum speed 1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue 1967 Morris Traveller 1966 Morris Convertible 2012 VW T5 Camper Quod Abundat Non Obstat. |

I was on the A47 this afternoon going home at a steady 43mph!
Like Seriesonenut, mine is a 2lt diesel and we commiserated with each other at the joys of driving these slow and noisy vehicles for more than about 20 miles. Mr Nut, 2 hours 25 mins from the campsite via A11, and then due south from Newmarket to home. How did you do on the way home? As you can see from the muddy tyres, Norfolk's roads are awful. Hardly any tarmac at all..... Click image to enlarge |

Well Mr Windows we took the East Anglian grand tour home via Swaffham, Thetford and the 134 through to Braintree. About 4 hours at 40mph. Lovely.

It was the 40th Anniversary of the LRSOC, the Land Rover Series One Club, held at Clippesby Hall near Acle.
About 200 Series One cars and owners met up over the weekend. Small thought the single carriageway of the A47 was nearly empty. It was apart for the two miles of tailback behind her 1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue 1967 Morris Traveller 1966 Morris Convertible 2012 VW T5 Camper Quod Abundat Non Obstat. |

Which observation has made me realise that I have been a member for 39 years (and I have a complete run of newsletters (later"Legend") from number 1)! |

I joined in 1979, can’t believe it’s 40 years ago, a lot of water under the bridge and some good friends made. |
