Mine also quoted 20% more renewal time. I rang them to say I would be looking elsewhere if they couldn't do a better deal and they did for the same price as year before. I think many insurers just try it on hoping customers can't be arsed with the hassle of switching or complaining. |

It's close to a year ago now, but the last time I renewed the insurance for my Defender (110 XS Station Wagon with winch and 150 BAS remap), LV came out best and were quite a bit lower than my previous insurer.
And that included the winch and remap mods, plus the fact that three years earlier I had suffered a total loss claim from the theft of the previous Defender. I ended up taking out a multi car policy with them because they were lower priced for my wife and daughters cars as well. I tried a number of specialists and they were all a lot more expensive. |

Just renewed mine, I was with Lancaster but there renewal was too high, I got a quote from LV which was much better, however when I went back to Lancaster informing them of this they suddenly decided to just slightly beat it so I stayed with them for another year. A miraculous "discount"...
I really dislike the way insurance companies work but I think they are all the same. LV maybe next year though.... |

LV for me too - I asked to renew with A plan but wanted 180 days European cover, they came back with a quote but didn't say it was a straight renewal with only 90 days cover until pressed - LV 180 days European cover, all mods disclosed and cheaper too!

I found you do need to phone LV up rather than online as their system seemed to be a bit funny with Defenders, also with modifications. For example I had to put my 2004 Defender 90 on as a Land Rover 90 for it to display the correct years, it then tried to tell me it was a 110
They eventually got their head around vehicle I actually had and what a snorkel was, they then quoted me 😂 |

I’m with NFU and they actually reduced their premium, when I renewed a couple of weeks ago

I’ve been really happy with A Plan as a broker.
They got me insured with KGM Insurance who have 4/5 stars on TrustPilot (most of the one star reviews appear to be from halfwits). I’ve paid £740 for the year. Not bad considering I live in the centre of Bristol, it covers a BAS remap + intercooler and 10,000 miles p.a. They also gave me 1,000 business miles per year for free (I don’t normally drive the defender for work, but it’s nice to have should I need to!). Deffo worth a call! 2011 CSW XS 90 |

I find these days the stack the price up at renewal time, you get a better deal elsewhere, ring up to cancel and suddenly they can do a better deal. Awful way of doing business. I've had the old "this quote must be accepted now, we can't hold it" too which I think is appalling. 2011 110 USW

Not always! My Fiesta renewal doubled to £300 this year because I had an accident last October! When I rang up Direct Line to cancel the automatic renewal, they did just that and made no attempt to haggle! After a lot of searching, I got a better deal at Peter Best! |

Don’t forget, Direct Line won’t cover you if you have a raised intake.
Adrian Flux for me, good price, friendly and efficient service. |
