I wonder if your clutch switch is faulty and this may be causing the symptoms you describe?
There have been a few previous posts about the clutch switch and as far as I can tell from several replies, the switch is normally open. So you could try disconnecting the clutch switch plug and temporarily bridging the two terminals in the connector to see if this makes any difference. Or use a test meter to see if the switch closes when the clutch pedal is pressed. It may of course be nothing to do with the switch, but that's where I would start. Had the same issue on my Td5, disconnected the clutch switch, problem went away.... which leads to the next obvious question. What is the purpose of the switch? it's a Landrover thing...

Sounds like the clutch switch. Bear in mind unlike the TD5, in a Puma you cannot just unplug it. It must be bridged. The connectors are Junior Power Timer.
The clutch switch is supposed to momentarily reduce torque load between gear changes. (Interfering with driver input.) If driven properly and with mechanical sympathy as everyone should it’s better to drive with it bridged. (You can make your own choices, your vehicle you chose.) Mine has been bridged for a few years now, I had the same symptoms as you had and it’s superb to drive now. It gives you better feel, better gear changes less sloppy gear changes and removes that aggravating increase in revs in low range. Anti stall in both high and low range are all kept working in perfect order, in low range even better in my opinion. If you get JPT connectors, get both male and female and a little bit of black thinwall 1mm2 with the seals and pins for the male You can then bridge it in a waterproof and dust proof manner. The other female plug, simply plug that on the obsolete clutch switch connector and seal the rear entries with black sealant. Then everything is kept clean and tidy. I wouldn't go back to the way it was before! Some may like it, others disagree but I prefer it. Cost is less than £15 for a fit and forget job. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

I bought mine from here.... http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/sect...connectors I bought the 2 pole female and male housings plus the corresponding terminals and a few plugs to create a dust and water resistant seal. |

^^^^ That's the ones. There are a few suppliers around that sells them also. 2 pole for the clutch switch.
