Just read a report in the Daily Mail (sorry - it was on a desk at work!) about Aston Martins new Supercar and it mentions, in passing, that the villains in the next Bond film will be in the new Defender. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

That dosent supprise me. Given the amount of JLR vehicles in the last few Bond's it wouldnt supprise me them showcasing the new Defender on Bond 25....
Perhaps thats part of the delay |

So the bad guys will be holed up in an Asda carpark as they would not want to take it off road with those 20inch low profile tyres. Can't image it looking as dramatic as the Spectre 110's.

Oh dear, new LRM has just landed on the doormat. Letters page full of those shocked and dismayed that the Defender is being built in Slovakia.
Which rock have been living under? The rest of us have known for the last few years that this was going to happen. The one that made me laugh was the Td5 owner urging people to boycott the vehicle. I can't speak for all Td5 owners but as a owner myself with a truck I am very happy with why would I want to buy new and be saddled with a loan that will be worth more than the vehicle is and not be able to modify it to suit my needs as it will nullify the warrantee. Who is going to be modifying these straight away? Just look at all those heavily modified Discovery 3's out there, fluffy dice is a modification right? In short if you want/need new go for it. Those with good trucks keep them. Just remember that new owners for the first year will be beta testers for the software. |

Safe to assume that this is what it will look like then
Looks good with recognisable Defender features like the white roof, barrel sides and alpine lights, which have all been hidden so far. The wheels are too big, but hopefully fixable by not ticking the option boxes. |

Doesn't look as though you'll be able to convert it to a full length soft-top and back with just spanners, like you can with the present Defender.

For that, the good Lord invented the plasma cutter Admittedly the "back" bit could be slightly more troublesome --- 2006 Defender 110 SW 300Tdi • 2011 Ford Ranger XLT crewcab • 2015 Defender 110 Station Wagon Utility TDCi |

Looks like the tow hitch 'tucks away' (dresses to the left).
Can't wait see it... I don't buy anything unless I can pay in full, so I won't be getting one! |
