MAF sensor / Snorkel airflow
My 2010 TDCI 110 cruises with a Safari snorkle fitter cruises along at 60mph doing circa 30 MPG and 70mph doing circa 20 MPG no problem. As soon as I go up to 80mph for a more than a couple of minutes I get the good old engine light comes on and its a MAF sensor failure code (the exact one I cannot remember).

I've run it with a diagnostic app and the MAF seems to be working ok with the reading fluctuating correctly so believe it is working oK. I can clear the fault, drive at below 75mph for weeks and no fault.....

Could the fault be caused by a lack of airflow into the engine as it is being restricted by the snorkel? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

If it is the snorkel has anyone any recommendations on one I could change it for that still comes out of the side vent, I don't want to cut into the bonnet.

I'll double check it.

I've never had any problems like that with mine.

Not all snorkels are created equal. Much larger pipework than most, much better under the bonnet, and no cutting required:-

I had a safari snorkel fitted for years and never had any problems with the MAF sensor. I run a pretty good tune as well so it sucks pretty hard, so hard that the silicone pipe i had fitted for a while used to collapse under the pressure.

Have you had it plugged in properly as the EGR can sometimes cause various misleading faults. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

I've never had a single problem with mine at all with a Safari, are you sure your MAF isn't on its way out?
EGR can sometimes affect it, with readings as well. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

had a similar problem with mine. it ended up being the EGR. although I couldnt see much wrong with it. I changed the MAF, same fault appeared. Then changed the EGR and has been fine since

I think I'll have to give that a try. Hopefully cleaning the ERG will do the trick
