Get on that auction site and buy a solid one, been a few good ones on there, but it won't be cheap, if it's going at the top around hinges or screen rail the pillars will be next. Push seller for delivery included if you can't collect.

Great question. I've been looking at a guy on ebay that refurbs them full time and delivers them fully galv'd but for a couple hundred more £s I could get a brand new one.

Oh i have been to so many garages to try and get it sorted as the dash needs to come off and the windframe out etc nobody gets back to me, i presume body shops are scared of doing the dash as they don't know how to take off and put back together landy garages are to busy doing other stuff (small quick turn over)
I have gouged out a big hole in the front under the windframe and i'm just going to fiberglass and fill repaint that area. there is that much non alloy metal attached to it by JLR its rusting all overthe top side i'm sure the water is getting in under the windframe which is going to be hard to stop the bottom of the bulkhead is fine ie footwells i will take some pics when i do it next week and prob get slatted off everyone on site but i have tried since January to get someone to do it to no joy Also being a hardtop puma part ex is crap with dealers esp with 175000 miles on yet they are trying to get top wack for simlar vehicles with simlar issues and lots of miles as i have looked at a few newer ones but because i tell them its (mine) issues they knock it down quite a lot but then when you tell them theirs is worse or as bad they just say well it's a Defender So i will play there game and touch=up and give them the problem then tell everyone on here as if i sold it now say to someone on here issues would be told and prob sold for £2,000 less than what i would sell for with fixed issues around £9,500 but as all Defenders you would'nt be so lucky there will always be something. Good luck |

Kaney, you could try Jim Gardener at Leaf Sprung Landys located between Preston and Blackpool to replace your bulkhead. Jim has a good reputation in the Series 2/3 World but does do work on later vehicles.

Thanks for the replies chaps.
I've made some inquiries - Duckworth's price was off the scale unfortunately. Brand new aftemarket bulkheads are ~£1k-£1.5k. To have a bulkhead shotblasted, repaired and galvanized price is ~£900. So at this moment in time, I'm going to keep an eye out for an half decent secondhand bulkhead and send it off for repair work and galvanising. I'll update this thread as and when anything happens or changes... |

I think I paid around £1200 for mine bulkhead. I also looked at getting one stripped in chemical bath and then zinc coating
I looked at using https://www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk/ if I went down the 2nd hand route. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Woody,
I have a damaged 2004 TD5 bulkhead you could have if you want to get it repaired. A couple of photos attached (I hope!) Yours for the cost of a courier and a donation to Cancer UK. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |
