Just get away from the tourist and the coast, and go and see the real country.

I do the opposite. I drive and convince Mrs Grenadier to fly to the destination. Get a couple of day out/back on your tod, and then enjoy the local, shorter trips together in harmony. Flights are so cheap these days it doens't really cost anything 'extra'. Did it last year to Mallorca, worked a treat. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Love Croatia, been several times, always driven. Been with Tim once I think and with the Mrs several times and before all that the Boss sent me there for 6 months, twice.
I don't have the route as it was on a toughbok that I sold a few years back. I think Tim will have the route. But I can give you a rough route that we drove. Drop me a PM with your email and I'll do a quick write up for you 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

Since I’m from Croatia if you have some questions I will be glad to help.
The mines are actually concentrated on a very narrow area which closely follows the frontline as it was in 1995. Since this line was pretty much unchanged during most of war, the mines are not scattered everywhere, instead they’re concentrated within mostly less than 10 km wide discontinued strip. (As of today there’s only about 1% of the country’s area that is still threatened by it). So you cross this area using any kind of paved or unpaved road instead of wandering around the nature, you’ll have no problem at all. And when you get some kilometers away to whatever side you will be completely safe. In the last 10 years only about 10 people got killed and almost all of them were guys doing the demining. So you’re about several hundred times more likely to die in a car crash (and to put it mildly, being in a Defender does not really help with the chances 😅) If you like the mountains/interior of the country I can suggest many routes where you’ll have no worries whatsoever about the damned things.👍 |
