2SO makes diesel burn cleaner & adds lubricity, but increases nitrous emissions IIRC. there is a study floating around on the www about various diesel additives and their effects, will post it here if I find it. -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

In that case will give it a go - any idea how much do I add to a full tank?

If it's the first time you're using 2SO, a 1:100 ratio, thereafter a 1:200 ratio. Use a good JASO-FB/C brand, but don't use full-synthetic. -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Just to confuse you even more use only use only JASO FC for the Puma. An example of this would be Castrol Activo. It appears that as the Puma has a catalytic converter the cheaper 2 stroke to the JASO FB specs would not be good for the catalytic converter. The amount you will be adding is actually very small so I would not be too concerned over any adverse effects. After you have used a few tankfulls let us know what you think. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Half that amount should be adequate. If you can add it when you fill up. Put it in before the diesel is pumped in, then it gets well and truly mixed. Looking forward to your observations after you have used a few tanks of fuel. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

2SOil update.
Well its now three tankfuls later, and I am pleased to report that the EGR valve has not played up once. At first it was intermittent in operation, occasionally not working at all after engine shut down, but after a hundred or so miles its become like clockwork (not often you associate that expression with a defender engine!). While its only subjective, the engine feels smoother in particular on motorway speeds, so thats a bonus too. As I mentioned the first tankful had a bit much added but there was no perceived negative effects, and since then I have just adde about 250ml to each tank and thats how I intend to carry on. So thanks to all for the advice |
