This years rally looking suspect but will see what happens, nit in love with this years layout.
Has two chassis mounts front and rear. Im going with the theory if its going off it wont be coming back.

Some of the cars we recovery on rallies have the stupid fabric tow eyes, some even just bolted to the bumper with no other chassis attachment! 1999 Defender TD5 110

I'm not so sure that a 3.0 Litre is the maximum engine size for rallying!

Graham Clark, the proprietor of LRE Scotland, used to use a large block American v8 in the forests; I don't remember the exact engine size, but the MSA had some 'discussions' about it before allowing him to compete! The gist of the thing was that his normally aspirated v8 size was greater than the only listed maximum engine size in the Blue Book which was for an engine with forced induction!

The Blue Book didn't list any maximum size for normally aspirated engines, only the ones with forced induction, which was where the problem started. Until the MSA Rallies Committee got their thinking caps on, the only thing that Scrutineers had to go on was the forced induction figure with the multiplier applied! I seem to remember that Graham's engine was a 7+ Litre , but I could be wrong! What I do know, is that he used to shred axle casings on a regular basis until he got some 'special' axle tubes welded on!!

You're right, it's not, but you can't run a V8 any more unless it's in there FIA R/GT class and it is 3.0 for those with more than 2 valves per cylinder.

Except for Historic cars (SD1, TR7 V8 etc) here's a snip from the MUK regs about engine size:

48.2.1. Production Car Engines with a maximum of six cylinders:
a) Petrol engines with forced induction up to 2000cc with a 34mm restrictor or up to 2500cc with a 32mm restrictor, and diesel engines with forced induction up to 2500cc with a 37mm restrictor.
b) Naturally aspirated with more than 2 valves per cylinder – up to 3000cc.
c) Naturally aspirated with maximum of 2 valves per cylinder – up to 3500cc.

48.2.2. Metro 6R4 2500cc and 2800cc (Single Plenum) engines complying with MSA Specification, exclusive to 6R4s. 90 V8 CSW - 1988

Made the mistake of taking the landy to the house where progress ground to a halt as apparently house maintenance is more important
On a good point Ive bought a 3lire rally engine with uprated internals, dta ecu,je pistons etc. Should be good for 360 bhp
Just need to finish the weeding and i can start on it. [img]
