Tried it in the tdi and the Puma. Did not notice any appreciable difference, but others seem to swear by it and other additives. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Ours was running rough recently and we suspected injector issues. A healthy dose of this in the tank helped clear things through.

I used it for about a year (OK not in a Puma) and found it to be useless.
My soon to go Outlander with the 2.0 VW PDI engine had constant problems with sensors/breathing system becoming clogged up with oily gunge, mainly through low mileage and repeated short journeys/cold starts. This went on for nearly 3 years and was always at its worst after Winter. Ecomax made no difference to its sluggish performance and every year like clockwork I always had to fit a new MAP sensor. Then I discovered the real Mcoy ! You've heard it before probably many times on this forum but the wonder additive is 2 stroke oil ! Since using 2SO ( for about 6 months now ) my Mitsu runs like a dream - and thats right through the usual short spins in Winter when it was often -16 C here. MPG has improved by about 10% and everything is clean as a whistle. So when I get my 110 its going to be 2 stroke from day one. Obviously everyone has their own opinions and experiences but based on mine I would say save your money (ecomax is pricey) and put it into the cheapest JASO FB or FC spec 2 stroke you can find ( B&Q and Tesco do the Carplan one for around £5 a bottle which will treat 200 litrs of diesel). It will pay for itself after about 2 tankfuls IMHO |

Thought I throw an experience in here too. When using 2SO, combustion will be hindered, which feels smoother, but when looking at the environmental impact, it does mean also combustion is less effective producing nastier exhaust.
Further on, not all parts of the engine do like 2SO. Yes, the engine does suffer less stress as combustion is less explosive, but injectors and especially the common rail system do not like to get things in there which cannot be vaporized nicely, as well as the oxidation kat gets exposed to chemicals not supposed to be there. I was a 2SO follower until CR diesel became standard and used it long time /w success in the old 300 mechanical engine, but saw enough CR diesel wrecked by additives now. There is a reason you find a sticker at a BMW filler cap, saying no additives. (ok ok I admit a BMW effective dynamics 2l high tech engine is not really comparable with the 2.4 PUMA workhorse, but it is more closely then the old mechanical 300.) Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel. |

I have to disagree there mate, if you pictures of injectors from normal and 2SO combustion, the ones from 2SO are always cleaner. Have a look at this example from a Discovery 300TDi: Click image to enlarge The same person also reported the following: "When my wife got her Disco3 TDV6 (153000km, 2005 model) I connected my Hawkeye diagnostic tool to get a readout of the current situation. Various error codes were present in the EMS (Diesel) routine. The most critical were variations in diesel injector efficiency. After 5000km with 2sO treatment, the following picture presents itself: EMS No fault codes recorded!!!" I have put 2SO in my Puma since new and it drives super smoothly - everytime the LR mechanics drive it they comment how smooth it sounds compared to the others. Your argument that 2SO makes combustion less effective is baseless, the opposite is actually what happens - this is why with 2SO there is less soot in the exhaust fumes. Sorry, but soot has almost nothin to do with how clean a combustion is. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.
