United Kingdom 1999 Defender 90 Td5 HT Rioja Red
Toggle switch ID
Hey everyone, just bought my first defender after owning 2 freelanders and an L322 I decided to go for a back to basics landy!
I'm in the process of refurbishing the interior (its a little tired and grubby). I took the seats out and beneath the centre seat next to the OBD socket is a 3 position toggle switch? I don't know what it does. The wires disappear underneath the floor over the transmission. I was guessing its some kind of anti theft switch but why 3 position? maybe you guys have seen something similar.

Also is there anything you would recommend doing service-wise on a TD5 other than the oil and filters while I've got it off the road?

Many Thanks

The switch is not standard so it can be for anything. So difficult to say what it is.

Maintenance: You can do a lot and it all depends in what state your td5 is. I would do at least all the oils: engine, gearbox, transfer box and axles.
Take the propshafts off and check if they move free and grease them.

If it has been off-road take the handbrake drum off and clean it inside.

That's just the start. The rest will show up very soon. Very Happy Roel
