Reversing Cameras
I’m about to install a pioneer head unit with flip up screen. It has the ability to take an input from a reversing camera. The input on the back is a brown component lead type thing.

Pioneer sell a reversing camera for £70, but can I use a generic one? Is the standard input for reversing cams a component socket?

You can use a generic one. Most have a yellow RCA type connector for the video.

If not you can get adaptors very cheaply

With alpine it isn’t that easy. So I would call the shop/Pioneer to be sure. a defender from 1984 pretending to be a puma with a touch of Range Rover

I have a pioneer single din flip out, I used a cheap amazon camera with no problems at all.

The camera has a tiny + signal cable within the camera feed cable which triggers the screen to change input. incredibly easy to fit, no need to use pioneers own camera

Thats great, thanks. How do you find the pioneer head unit? i managed to pick one up second had and am yet to fit but have heard good things.
